We met in 2006 and realized a mutual passion for aviation. Jared has a commercial helicopter license and Heather has a private pilot's license. We were married in 2007 while Heather was in the Physician Assistant Program at Union College. Our dream has always been to serve as missionaries. Following graduation from Union College, we occupied ourselves paying off student loans, working full time, and raising our two boys. Jared has kept up his pilot's license on the side while working as an industrial maintenance technician.
Around 2020, we became debt free and could seriously begin pursuing our dream of mission service. We met Dwayne Harris, the director of PAMAS (Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services) , a mission organization in the Philippines that uses helicopters to service remote mountain villages at an ASI conference in 2021. In early February of 2023, we officially became AngelOne missionaries. AngelOne is an aviation ministry that helps to connect aviation missionaries with ministries who are in need of volunteers. Around this same time, we accepted the call to become missionaries with PAMAS and to start our term in May of 2023.
The position we accepted with PAMAS is a 100% volunteer position. We are totally dependent upon God and the generosity of his people for our monthly needs.
We arrived in Manila, Philippines in early May of 2023. Jared then spent the next month going through the process of a foreign license conversion. For more details on that process, check out our blog!
For the time being, we are based at the PAMAS Mindanao base where Jared is flying the PAMAS R44 helicopter. His missions are flown into the remote villages of the mountains in this area.
PAMAS is involved in seven different facets of ministry in the Philippines: Aviation which includes medical evacuation flights, education in remote jungle villages, medical/dental work with an emphasis on lifestyle medicine, bible work/evangelism, agriculture, construction, and radio.

It is our desire to see mission aviation expand in the Philippines. We see the potential for bringing help to difficult to reach villages through the unique abilities of helicopters.
Currently we are pursuing the ability to help expand the medical work with PAMAS and partner ministries through a clinic to be opened in an underserved area in the region.
We are also praying about how the helicopter can further help support the development of sustainable agricultural practices in the mountains where children and families are malnourished.
